Why?
It's an age-old question. And one the self-help gurus recommend you answer for each of your goals. Apparently, the more answers you have, the more likely you are to achieve your goals; in fact, the strongest goal-setters may have as many as 100 reasons -- or more -- for why they want a particular goal!
I don't have that many. I don't know if that makes my physical goals weak. Never-the-less, here they are:
I want my physical goals because ...
- There is so much I want to accomplish with my life and being healthy is an important factor in these achievements;
- I've already seen enough ill health in family members and I don't want it to happen to me -- not only because of the personal impact, but because of the affect it has on other people;
- I don't want anyone else to have the stress of looking after me and/or making life decisions (as I have had to do);
- I want a high quality of life for the rest of my life;
- I want to live 'full-out.' I want to be all that I can be;
- I want to look and feel great;
- I want the attention of looking and feeling great;
- I want to buy cute clothes and look good in them;
- I want to be attractive to others;
- I want to remain young;
- I want to have consistent energy;
- Being physically fit and healthy contributes to mental health;
- I want to be an inspiration to others;
- I want others to ask what I'm doing to look and feel so good;
- Without health, everything else is unimportant; and,
- I believe that science and technology will find solutions for illness, aging and death, so my responsibility is to take care of myself to have the best chance of success at that point.
What do you think? For those who also have physical goals, what are some of your whys?
